Nimbus (2013) for solo piano is a seven-minute exploration of two contrasting sound spaces. Most people know that rainbows are caused by light refracting through raindrops. However, in very cold weather, ice crystals floating in the air can also behave like prisms and mirrors, causing a halo to appear in the sky. This optical phenomena is called an icebow or a nimbus.
