Cycle (2009)

“Cycle” (2009) for solo violoncello is a set of nature-inspired musical miniatures. A seed is planted in the introduction, and throughout four small movements we see glimpses of its growth: the new life of spring, summer’s boundless energy, the relaxation of autumn and the cold death that winter brings. In the end, all life is reduced back down to a seed and we are back where we began, prepared for the cycle to begin again.
